Shatter is the value pick and always has been. Live resin is what you buy when flavour is the point. Diamonds are the highest-testing thing on the shelf.
Why live resin costs more
It comes down to when the plant was frozen. Ordinary extract is made from flower that’s been dried and cured, and drying is exactly when the volatile terpenes escape.
Live resin skips that. The plant goes into the freezer at harvest and gets extracted from frozen, so the aromatic compounds are still there when the solvent goes in. That’s the whole difference — and it’s why live resin smells like the plant and shatter smells like cannabis in general.
Diamonds, and what THCA means
Diamonds are crystallised THCA, usually sitting in a pool of terpene sauce. THCA is what THC is before heat converts it — so a diamond isn’t psychoactive until you apply a flame or a hot banger.
They test higher than anything else here. In practice that means smaller dabs, not a longer session.
Taking a dab without wasting it
Heat the banger, then wait. Most people dab far too hot, which scorches the extract, wastes the terpenes and produces the harsh hit that puts people off concentrates entirely.
Let it cool until it’s warm rather than glowing. Take a small dab — smaller than looks right — and cap it. If the residue in the banger is black rather than amber, you were too hot.
No rig? Add a little to a joint, or reach for infused pre-rolls, which are this done for you.
How strong, really
Several times the strength of the flower it came from, by weight. A gram of concentrate is not a gram of bud and doesn’t behave like one.
If you’re coming from flower, start with a dab the size of a grain of rice and give it a few minutes. It arrives almost immediately, which is the one mercy — unlike edibles, you know quickly whether you took too much.
Storage
Cold, dark, sealed. Heat is what turns a clean slab of shatter into a sticky smear that won’t come off the dabber. The fridge is fine for anything you’re not finishing this week — let it warm to room temperature before opening.

Concentrates FAQ
What is shatter?
A solvent-extracted concentrate purged flat into a glassy slab that snaps. It’s the cheapest strong option on the shelf.
What makes live resin different?
The plant is frozen at harvest instead of dried, so the terpenes survive extraction. It smells and tastes far closer to the living plant.
What are THCA diamonds?
Crystallised THCA, usually in terpene sauce. THCA converts to THC when heated, so they aren’t active until you apply heat.
How much stronger than flower is a concentrate?
Several times, by weight. Start with a dab the size of a grain of rice.
Do I need a rig?
A rig with a banger and torch, or an e-nail, is the usual setup. Otherwise add a little to a joint or use an infused pre-roll.
Why does my dab taste burnt?
Too hot. Heat the banger then let it cool noticeably before dabbing. Black residue means you overheated it.
How quickly does a dab hit?
Almost immediately, unlike edibles. You know within a minute or two whether the dose was right.
Which is the best value?
Shatter at $34. Strongest per dollar, if you don’t mind losing terpene character.
How should I store concentrates?
Cold, dark and sealed. Heat makes shatter sticky and hard to handle. Let it warm up before opening a cold container.
Can I put concentrate in a joint?
Yes — the simplest way to try one without buying equipment.
Do you deliver concentrates same day in Toronto?
Yes, in about two hours between noon and 23:00, across Toronto.
