What psilocybin is
The compound that makes a mushroom a magic mushroom. Your body converts it to psilocin, and that’s what produces the effect — which is why the wait between eating and feeling anything is a conversion, not a delay.
Every mushroom we carry is Psilocybe cubensis. The names on the jars are cultivars of that one species, selected for potency and character the way cannabis strains are.
The cultivars

Potency varies between cultivars and between harvests of the same cultivar. Treat anything you haven’t taken before as stronger than the last thing you did.
Dosing by dry weight

Weigh it on a scale. Caps and stems differ enormously in density, and a handful that looks like a gram is regularly two.
How it runs
Onset is 20 to 40 minutes on an empty stomach, longer after food. The whole experience lasts four to six hours, with the peak in the middle two.
Set and setting shape it more than the cultivar does. Somewhere familiar, someone sober nearby, nothing scheduled for the next morning. No alcohol. Cannabis intensifies it noticeably, so leave that out of your first few.
If it turns uncomfortable, it passes. Change the room, put on music you know, wait. It always ends.
If you’d rather not taste them
Dried cubensis is earthy and dry and plenty of people never get past it. Psilocybin gummies and chocolate solve that, and they arrive pre-dosed, which removes the scale from the equation entirely.
