Of our three rotating tiers, the one built for cheap ounces Toronto smokers can live on all month is the middle rung. Pick of the day (Mids) is that rung.

Tighter nugs than our value tier. A nose you notice before the bag opens.

Sharing a rotating jar

Mids is the tier people bring to other people. A named top-shelf jar gets rationed by the bowl, and this one gets passed around the table.

Two habits keep it that way. Grind at the table so the smell reaches everyone, and roll two thin joints in place of one fat one.

Generosity is easier on a rung that costs less to be generous with.

Pick of the day (Mids) rotating lot

What mid grade weed means on our shelf

Shops rank flower A to AAAA, and the letters describe the bag more than the buzz. Mids land in the AAA band.

Three different kinds of lot end up there, and they get to the same rung by different roads.

  • A strong grow with plain looks: great smoke, ordinary bag appeal.
  • The smaller nugs off a top-shelf run, sorted out by size alone.
  • A quad-grade lot a few weeks past its loudest, still clean and well cured.

None of the three is a flaw you taste. All three are reasons a lot costs less than the jar beside it.

What Mids gives you over the Lows tier

The gap shows up in three places, and smell is the biggest of them.

  • Nose: carries across a room once the jar opens.
  • Density: nugs hold their shape under a thumb.
  • Frost: even coverage rather than patchy tips.
  • Trim: tidier, with less leaf left on.

What it doesn’t buy you is the top shelf. Our AAAA jars still win on size, colour and sheer volume of smell.

  • Tier: Mids, the middle rung of three.
  • Strain: whichever lot we picked that morning, never a fixed name.
  • Type: indica, sativa or hybrid, depending on the lot.
  • Grade: AAA band on the Canadian letter scale.
  • Format: dried flower, sold by weight.
  • Onset: within minutes.
  • Duration: 1-3 hours.
  • Best for: weekly stock-ups and regular smoking.

Grade letters and strength are two different things

The letters rank the bag. Nothing in them measures how hard a bowl lands.

A tidy AAA lot from a strong grow will out-punch a pretty AAAA jar that got cut early. That happens more often than the ladder suggests.

  • Grade tracks: size, frost, trim, cure and nose.
  • Strength tracks: the plant, the grow and the harvest window.
  • The two overlap in places, and they measure different things.

No lab sheet comes with these lots, so there’s no percentage on this tier. The promise we do make is simpler: nothing thin enough to disappoint gets the Mids label, and thin lots get sent back.

Our take on the Mids tier

This is the rung we buy the most of, and the one we argue about the most.

A good Mids lot smells like a named jar with the volume turned down two notches. The flavour survives, the burn stays smooth, and the ash comes out pale grey.

Two of us keep an ounce of it at home between top-shelf jars. It handles the ordinary evenings so the good jar lasts.

One honest limit. The tier swings. A Tuesday lot and a Friday lot are different plants, and a smoker who wants the same bowl every night will find that annoying.

Buying cheap ounces without wasting half of them

An ounce is 28 grams, which is more flower than most people smoke fresh. The last week of a big jar is where value gets lost.

  • Split it. One small working jar, the rest sealed and shut.
  • Date the big jar with tape so you know how old the bottom is.
  • Add a humidity pack to the sealed side, not the daily one.
  • Grind only what you’re about to smoke.

Done that way, week four smokes close to week one.

Who the Mids tier suits

Regular smokers, ounce buyers, and anyone tired of paying top shelf for a Wednesday night. It suits sharers too, since nobody minds passing a jar from this rung.

Buyers who want one strain, every time, should shop the named jars instead.

The label behind our mid grade weed

Every flower product we carry sits under our Private Label mark, all 17 of them, tiers and named jars alike.

Private Label marks the buyer rather than a breeder. On this tier that’s the whole guarantee: the lot got chosen by the same people who choose our named jars, judged on the same nose, cure and burn.

What the label does promise is one team and one standard. The same people who pass on a bad AAAA lot pass on a bad Mids lot, and this rung sees the most lots of the three.

North York weed delivery runs on the same clock as the rest of our map, so EX Weed Delivery covers Toronto and North York inside two hours. Orders open at a $50 minimum, delivery is free over $70, and every drop-off gets a 19+ ID check.

How the Mids tier compares across our shelf

The two neighbouring tiers set the edges. Two named jars show what a fixed strain costs you in flexibility.

Product Grade Strain Who it suits
Pick of the day (Mids) (this tier) AAA band Rotates daily Regular smokers stocking up by the ounce.
Pick of the day (Lows) A to AA Rotates daily The lowest rung, when volume beats everything.
Pick of the day (Highs) AAAA Rotates daily Top shelf on a day when the jar is the point.
Astro Cake Low quad, smalls Named, indica Named flavour at a mid price, in small nugs.
Guava OG Value jar Named, indica-leaning Buyers who want the fruit lane settled up front.
Oreoz pre-rolls, 7 x 1g Rolled Indica, night Seven grams already rolled, no grinder needed.

Take a named jar when the type has to be settled. Take Mids when the day’s best lot is good enough, whatever it turns out to be. The full list sits in our dried flower range.

Common questions

What is AAA weed?

AAA weed is the middle band of the Canadian letter scale: dense, well-cured flower with a clear nose and even frost, minus the size and bag appeal of AAAA. Our Mids tier sits in that band.

What does weed grade mean?

A weed grade is a seller's own rating of a lot, written as letters from A to AAAA. Shops set their own bars, so the grade tells you what one shop thinks of a batch. Ours turns on nose, cure, structure and burn.

What's the difference between Mids and Highs?

Size, colour and volume of smell. Highs are our AAAA picks: bigger nugs, thicker frost, a louder room when the jar opens. Mids smoke clean and cost less, with a quieter nose.

What strain comes in Pick of the day (Mids)?

Whichever mid-grade lot we picked that day. The type rotates with supply, so the tier carries no fixed strain name. Named jars are the pick when the type has to be settled.

How do I keep an ounce fresh?

Split it into a small daily jar and a sealed reserve, both at room temperature and out of the light. Add a humidity pack to the reserve. Flower kept that way holds its nose for a month.
