Open a jar of AAAA weed and the room finds out first. Pick of the day (Highs) is our top rung, chosen each morning from the loudest lot on the bench.
Frost you can spot across a table. A nose that carries down a hallway.
- Tier: Highs, the top rung of three.
- Grade: AAAA, the top of the Canadian letter scale.
- Strain: the day’s best lot, so no fixed name.
- Type: indica, sativa or hybrid, by the lot.
- Look: dense nugs, thick resin coat, tight trim.
- Nose: loud through a sealed bag.
- Onset: within minutes.
- Duration: 1-3 hours.
- Best for: weekends, guests and flavour chasers.
Why the top pick changes every day
Craft lots arrive small. A grower with a great room turns out a few pounds, sells it, and the next run smells like a different plant.
A shop holding one fixed top-shelf jar has two ways out of that. Buy an enormous amount of one lot and watch it age, or quietly drop the grade and keep the name.
We took the third road. The name goes, the standard stays, and whatever clears the bar that morning takes the slot.
- Lot size: small, so a good one runs for days rather than months.
- Freshness: the jar you get was picked this week, not last season.
- Variety: a different plant most times you order.
That’s the trade in one line. You give up choosing the strain and get the freshest top lot in the building.

Our take on the Highs tier
This is the tier we open when somebody asks what we smoke ourselves.
A good Highs lot behaves differently in the grinder. The nugs give a little, the smell jumps up at you, and the resin sticks to everything it touches.
On the smoke it shows halfway down the bowl. Flavour holds instead of thinning out, and the ash falls pale.
One honest limit. Top shelf costs the most per gram, and the gap over our Mids tier is smell and looks more than raw punch. Buyers chasing strength alone get further with a concentrate.
Getting your money's worth from quad weed
- Small bowls. Loud flower gives its best on the first pull.
- Grind coarse and go slow, since a fine grind burns the smell off.
- Clean glass. Old resin flattens a good nose in seconds.
- Smoke it sooner rather than later. Frost fades, and frost is what this rung sells.
The label on our craft cannabis
Private Label is the house label on all 17 flower products we carry, from the value rung up to this one. The tiers change, and the buyer behind them does not.
What the label sells is the pick. It says who chose the lot, what the lot had to clear, and that the same standard applies to every jar we put up.
At the top rung that pick gets harder, not easier. Plenty of lots look like AAAA flower in a photograph, and most of them lose the argument once the lid comes off.
What AAAA weed actually means
AAAA, said out loud as quad, is the top rung of the letter scale Canadian shops use. It rates the flower in the jar, not the high in the room.
No regulator writes the standard and no lab hands out the letters. Shops grade their own stock, which makes the grader the thing worth judging.
Five things decide it at our bench.
- Density: nugs that spring back instead of crumbling.
- Resin: coverage down into the crevices, not only on the tips.
- Trim: tidy by hand, with the useful sugar leaf left on.
- Cure: a clean snap in the stem, no hay, no damp.
- Nose: loud before the jar opens and louder after the grind.
Where the AAAA scale breaks down
Three habits make the letters slippery, and buyers pay for all three.
- Inflation. Every shop wants quads on the menu, so ordinary lots creep up a rung.
- Invented rungs. AAAA+ and five-A labels exist to beat a scale that already tops out.
- Photos. Macro shots and hard light make any nug look frosted.
The fix is dull but it works. Buy from a shop that writes down how a lot smells, burns and looks in ordinary light, then holds itself to what it wrote.
What to check when a Highs jar lands
Two minutes of checking beats an argument later.
- Smell it before anything else. Loud is the entire point of this rung.
- Press one nug. It should give, then come back.
- Break one open. The frost should run through the middle too.
- Burn one bowl. Grey ash, smooth smoke, no crackle.
A lot that fails those checks never should have carried the letters.
Who the Highs tier suits
Flavour chasers, weekend smokers, and hosts who want the jar on the table to earn its spot. Curious buyers do well here too, since the pick keeps changing.
Low tolerance? One bowl, then wait it out. This rung hides its strength behind good manners.

How AAAA flower compares across our shelf
The rotating tiers set the ladder. The named jars show what a fixed name buys you.
| Product | Grade | Strain | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pick of the day (Highs) (this tier) | AAAA | Rotates daily | Top shelf, with the pick left to us. |
| Pick of the day (Mids) | AAA band | Rotates daily | Regular smoking and bigger stock-ups. |
| Pick of the day (Lows) | A to AA | Rotates daily | The lowest rung, for volume buyers. |
| Platinum Oreo | AAAA | Named, indica-leaning | Cookies-and-cream flavour, every single time. |
| Blue Lobster | AAAA | Named, indica-leaning | A documented breeder and a real award record. |
| Cereal Milk LSO | Living soil | Named, balanced hybrid | Flavour chasers who want the grow method named. |
Pick a named jar when the strain has to be the same next week. Pick Highs when you’d rather have the best lot in the room that day. The rest of the range sits in our dried flower list.
Common questions
What does AAAA mean in weed?
AAAA, spoken as quad, is the highest rung of the A-to-AAAA scale Canadian shops use for dried flower. It stands for dense, resin-heavy, hand-trimmed bud with a loud smell. The scale is a trade custom, not a legal one.
Is AAAA weed stronger than lower grades?
Not by rule. The letters grade looks, trim and cure rather than THC. Quad lots often come from careful growers, so the resin runs higher, and a AAA jar off a strong plant can still hit harder.
What strain comes in Pick of the day (Highs)?
Whichever top-shelf lot won the bench that morning. Name and type both change with the pick, so the tier stays unnamed. Buyers who need the same strain twice should shop our named AAAA jars.
What does LSO mean in weed?
LSO is short for living soil organic, a growing method rather than a grade. Those plants feed from compost beds full of microbes instead of bottled salts. The living-soil jar on our shelf is Cereal Milk LSO.
