The Blue Lobster strain is for smokers who want fruit and gas out of the same bowl. Blueberry candy up front, a heavy landing behind it.
It leans indica, roughly 60/40, and it earns the shelf space it takes up.

Where the Blue Lobster strain comes from
The cross is the work of Chris Lynch, who runs Cipher Genetics and co-founded Compound Genetics. He crossed Apples and Bananas with Eye Candy and called the result Facade.
The name it carries now came later, from Maine Trees. They hunted the seeds, picked the keeper, and renamed it after the rarest thing in their own waters.
A real blue lobster turns up about once in two million. The renaming was a joke about scarcity that stuck.
Cipher and Compound are both Lynch’s outfits, which is why seed sites credit one or the other. Same plant, two company names.
- Bred: by Cipher Genetics, as Facade.
- Selected and named: by Maine Trees.
- Home: Maine, not Canada. Canadian shops resell the name.
- Parents: Apples and Bananas crossed with Eye Candy.
The Honeysuckle Magazine feature on Maine Trees tells that story in full. Anyone selling this as a Canadian original has the map upside down.

What the Blue Lobster strain feels like
The opening is a rush. Bright, giddy, a little loud in the head for the first ten minutes.
The indica half catches up after that. Legs get heavy, the room gets warm, and the mood stays high the whole way down.
- Onset: within minutes.
- First stretch: euphoric, chatty, buzzy behind the eyes.
- Back half: heavy-bodied and calm.
- Duration: 1-3 hours, tapering.
This one hits hard for most people. One bowl, then a wait, is the sane way in.
Appetite tends to show up around the halfway mark. Keep something in the fridge and the evening runs smoother.

What Blue Lobster has won
Two things, both real, both worth stating carefully.
- Gassiest Flower, East Coast Zalympix 2023.
- Best Terps, East Coast Zalympix 2023.
- Runner-up for the show’s top prize that same year.
- Leafly Strain of the Year nominee, 2025.
Leafly reported that 2023 Zalympix run and later listed the strain among its Strain of the Year nominees. Nominee, not winner, and we’ll keep saying it that way.
The judging happened south of the border, on other growers’ flower. Neither award belongs to our jar.
What they tell you is that the genetics are worth chasing. What they don’t tell you is anything about this specific lot.

Who this Blue Lobster jar suits
Gas hunters who still want flavour, and indica smokers bored of plain earth and pepper.
It suits a late dinner, a couch, or a long evening with nothing booked after. Low tolerance? Half a bowl. This is a lot of flower for a beginner.

Our take on the Blue Lobster strain
The nose is the reason to buy it. Blueberry candy first, then grape, then a fuel note that keeps the sweetness honest.
Smoke comes out thick and creamy. The exhale leans gassy, and the blueberry hangs around on the lips longer than it has any right to.
One honest limit: it’s heavy-handed. Two bowls in, plans quietly cancel themselves, so we treat it as a night jar.
How we'd smoke a jar this strong
- Half a bowl to start, then ten minutes of nothing.
- Glass holds the blueberry note cleaner than paper does.
- Grind medium and pack loose so it burns even.
- Save it for a night with nothing booked after.
The gas builds as the jar empties. What smokes like candy in week one turns fuel-forward by the last bowl.
The grower and the grade
These jars ship under Private Label, the house name on every flower product we carry. It marks who picked the lot and what that lot had to clear: a loud nose, a close trim and a clean burn.
Grade reads AAAA, the Canadian shorthand for top-shelf bud. Buy weed online in Canada and you’ll meet those letters on every second menu.
AAAA weed in Canada is a claim about density, frost and cure. No regulator issues it, so the jar has to make the case itself.
Storing a gassy jar
- Airtight glass, dark cupboard, room temperature.
- Keep it away from heat, which strips the gas note first.
- Skip the fridge — damp swings dull trichomes, the resin crystals that hold flavour.
- Open the jar to smoke, not to show off.
Toronto ounce deals move fast, and this jar lands at the door in two hours, Markham included. Orders start at a $50 minimum, cross $70 and delivery is free, and every hand-off is 19+.
How Blue Lobster compares on our flower shelf
Our heavier jars all land differently. Here’s how this one sits against its neighbours in the AAAA flower range.
| Product | Potency | Type | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Lobster (this jar) | No published number | Indica-leaning hybrid | Fruit and gas together, with a heavy back half. |
| Pink Pablo | Up to 30% THC | Indica-dominant | Pure gas with no candy in the way. |
| Candy Cartel | No published number | Dessert hybrid | Orange-cream sweetness over the same fuel note. |
| Frosted Fruit Cake | Around 20% THC | Indica-dominant | A gentler evening, softer on new smokers. |
| Pick of the day (Highs) | Rotating lots | Top shelf | Whatever the best jar of the week happens to be. |
Pick Blue Lobster for the pedigree and the fruit. Pick Pink Pablo when only fuel will do. Pick Frosted Fruit Cake when the evening needs a lighter touch.
Common questions
Is Blue Lobster indica or sativa?
Blue Lobster is an indica-leaning hybrid, around 60/40. It opens euphoric and bright, then settles heavy through the body. Evening flower for most people.
What does Blue Lobster taste like?
Blueberry candy and grape, with a creamy, gassy finish. Limonene and caryophyllene lead the terpene list, which reads as citrus lift over a peppery, fuel-tinged base.
Who bred Blue Lobster?
Chris Lynch of Cipher Genetics bred it as Facade, crossing Apples and Bananas with Eye Candy. Maine Trees selected the keeper and renamed it after the one-in-two-million blue lobster.
What is stronger, sativa or indica?
Neither label decides strength. Potency comes from the flower itself, and the labels describe character: indica-leaning cuts land heavy, sativa-leaning cuts land bright. Blue Lobster is a strong hybrid on the indica side.
Where can I get Blue Lobster in Toronto?
Blue Lobster ships from EX Weed Delivery to Toronto addresses within two hours. We ask for a $50 minimum, waive the delivery fee over $70, and check ID at 19+ every time.
